Required Text and Workbook: Bob Jones University Press, Space and Earth Science, 3rd Edition (2-Volume consumable text includes Student Activity Book or Student activity Book may be purchased separately if you do not wish to consume the student text)
Supply List: Loose-leaf notebook and paper, 5 notebook dividers, notebook zipper pocket, a set of colored markers or pencils, pen or pencil.
Class Content and Style: I will emphasize the scientific method, good lab procedures, and organizational skills (including note-taking and keeping an organized notebook). Topics will include: Meteorology, Astronomy (our Solar System, Constellations, Space Exploration), Geology ( Rocks and Minerals, Land Forms, Natural Processes), and Oceanography. In class we will do approximately half lecture/discussion and half experiments, investigations, and hands-on activities.
Homework: Out of class will be mostly reading the chapters and assigned exercises in the workbook, plus a small project each quarter. I will assign about 2-3 hours of outside work per week.
