Class Description: This reading class, intended for fluent readers who are comfortable with chapter books, will introduce your child to many of the "classics" of children's literature, while allowing him to gain a deeper understanding of these books through focused reading comprehension instruction.  We will read classics like The Giver by Lois Lowry, and Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawl.  As we pour over these classics, we will focus on important reading comprehension skills, like making inferences, summarizing, finding the main idea, and drawing conclusions.  This class is intended (with proper completion of assigned homework) to be your child's reading instruction for the year, if you so desire.

Bio: I began teaching in the fall of 2001 after completing my Master of Arts in teaching from Trinity University in San Antonio. I taught third grade for three years in a public school in San Antonio before deciding to stay home after the birth of my first child. My husband and I now have two beautiful boys (ages one and three), and I am extremely excited about this opportunity to teach a few home schooling classes this year while still being able to stay home with my children. Our family attends the Vineyard church in Pearland, where I enjoy teaching preschool Sunday school. I can’t wait to meet your children and teach them in a fun, interactive environment!
