Guided Reading

 supply fee: $40.00 due at registration; NONREFUNDABLE (includes subscription to Guided Reading Website)

This reading class will move your child through leveled readers, combining phonics instruction with whole language, print-rich books. During this class, your child will also learn important comprehension skills like finding the main idea of a passage, making inferences, identifying fact and opinion, and noting the author's purpose. Since focused reading instruction should occur almost daily for young children, this course will also offer a parent workshop in late August or early September to help parents learn how to continue the guided reading concepts at home! This class can become (with parental support at home) your child's reading instruction for the year, if you so desire.
