Class Description:

Students should not use a study bible that they use specifically for studying the bible; the pages in the journaling bible sometimes are difficult to read after the students artistic talents have been expressed. We will spend the year studying scripture and journaling through lettering and painting within the pages of the journaling bible, the amount of journaling will be up to the student, it could cover the whole page or just the space provided for journaling, it can include notes about scripture or just pictures. The class is designed to worship through scripture learning and creative expression. We will choose what we will study after the make up of the class is determined.

Teacher Bio:

I graduated from UT Austin in 1992 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My degree concentrated heavily in graphic design but included illustration, painting, mixed media, photography, and art history. After graduating I married the love of my life, who I have been married to for 23 years. I worked in graphic advertising until my first child was born in 1996. Since 1996 I have been a freelance painter, primarily of murals in children’s rooms. I have also done commission works on canvas.

Generally my work is for the private sector but I painted Gloria Dei Lutheran’s Early Childhood Wing in 2001. I am the mother of 5 beautiful children, ages 11-19; 3 biological, 1 from Russia, and 1 from Ethiopia. We have a very international family! I am a veteran home school mom. Next year my youngest will be a 7th grader at Lutheran South Academy where, our other children attend high school, except the oldest who is attending the University of Texas at Austin. I am passionate about art and art history. I taught home school art classes as well as Handwriting Without Tears at Clear Lake Academy from 2013-2015 and art here at PHSA last year. Most importantly, I am passionate about Jesus and spreading His love to all of those I encounter. I am grateful He has given me such a wonderful opportunity to use my gifts to share and teach art and love His children this year at PHSA.
