Class Description: 

This class will explore books that have been recipients of the John Newbery Medal.  The goal will be to read a book from each of several different decades and to discuss those books and the time in which they were written and awarded.  There will be activities and projects to go along with each book.  Teacher will choose the first book and provide that information prior to the first day of class.  Other books will be chosen by the class and the teacher together.  This class will encourage students to become more independent readers as well as encourage them to read books they might not otherwise have chosen for themselves.
