Required Text and Materials: folder (teacher will provide), zipper pocket to keep supplies in, pencil, stick glue, scissors, scotch tape, and crayons. The supplies will be stored in your child’s zipper pouch, and will be available for use during other courses, if need be.

Course Content:
This is a class that will teach styles and techniques needed to become a proficient writer. We will spend most of our class time in whole group. Independent drafts and editing will be expected to be done at home.  Students will continue through the writing process learning Prewriting; Drafting; Redrafting; Adding depth through enriching the piece with details such as the five senses, similes, vivid verbs, catchy beginnings, satisfying endings, etc.; Editing (Checking for spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes); and Publishing.
