Class Description:

As an art teacher for over 20 years, I believe art connects to life and everything around us. It is my goal to provide a safe and peaceful class with a wide variety of art supplies to express those ideas. Students will be given opportunities to express their own creativity in weekly assignments. Assignments will involve one or more art elements: line, shape, texture, color and form. Each student will be able to simplify the assignment or expand upon each lesson. The process is as important as the product, as well as, the opportunity to try techniques and methods you may or may not have tried. Such as: painting, drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, printing and molding. It is my goal that students can come expecting to create art by doing it. Perfection is not the goal but a willingness to try new methods of creating will be important and a desire to do your very best.

For Added Experience: Guest artists will visit from time to time. We will visit Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts on a Thursday because that is a FREE day and have lunch together at Cafe Express. The year will conclude with an art show and students will be awarded a trophy for their art memorization which is optional.

Students: Please wear clothes that may return with paint on them.
