Course Description:
This course entails beginning with conversational greetings.  The topic of Spanish is introduced and developed through lessons with vocabulary, grammar, dialogue, cultural notes, oral exercises, and partner conversations in Spanish.  I will emphasize verb conjugation, and sentence structure using the vocabulary words and material.  All lessons are presented with a Christian world view. We will also listen (CD) and translate Spanish Conversation.  The book is colorfully illustrated, with reference charts, music, and a glossary as added helps.  We will continue to use the Spanish 1 Textbook and Activity Manual for this class, so students will continue to have and build a good foundation in Spanish.  (if they were in Spanish 1 last year, they will already have the Activity manual)

Course Evaluation:     Grades are given weekly.  Grades are made up of class participation, daily work, homework, and chapter quizzes. I use an online grade book that you can view your child’s grades anytime or assignments on the Internet.  This is a great communication tool to view your child’s progress.  A "Progress Report" will also be sent home each six weeks as well as an end of the year cumulative grade. An e-mail reminder will be sent to the parents.

Homework:
Spanish homework is given weekly and may include, but not all of the following topics every week.

*       Vocabulary

*       occasional Bible Verse memorization

*       Take home Chapter quizzes

*       Worksheets

*       Activity manual

*       Weekly review of class assignments at home to ensure fluency.

Bio:  In 2002, I earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Houston majoring in Communications/Broadcast Journalism.  Shortly after graduation, I returned to college and received my Teaching Certificate.  I have been teaching in the public school system for six years and have enjoyed every moment of my tenure.  I've resided in the Pearland area for over 30 years, where I've met my husband and have had two beautiful children, ages 2 1/2 and 10 months.  I've been blessed with the wonderful opportunity to be able to use my skills in the home school setting.  I'm extremely excited to meet all the new faces in the upcoming school year and look forward to making special memories for both myself and your children.
