We believe that children  are a   gift from the Lord, and that  training them in righteousness is   a calling for each mother and father, no matter how you choose to do it.  We believe each child is special and has something to  bring to the  body of Christ!
Pearland Home School  Alliance (PHSA)  is a cooperative organization of Christian home school families who gather together to share our talents for the benefit of  our children. Together we provide a Christian learning environment to supplement  and enrich your  home schools for all ages through 12th grade.

PHSA CLASS REGISTRATION/OPEN HOUSE -- MAY 14

If you'd like to Register for a Class, pick up class descriptions or Registration Forms, meet our teachers, or see our facilities, drop by on our last class day between 9:00 and 3:00.  Our classes meet at the "White House" 3007 Yost Rd., behind Shadycrest Baptist Church (3214 Hamm Rd), Pearland.  Classes will be meeting, but our teachers will be happy to pause and answer your questions.

 

CHEMISTRY CLASS CONFIRMED!

We are happy to announce that Leigh Ann Smith has agreed to offer our Chemistry Class for the 2008-09 school year.  We will be posting more class information as it becomes available.  Current details available in "CLASSES"

Gulf Coast Home Educator's Conference June 6-7 - SETHSA is looking toward the 22nd annual summer conference. Summer is a special time of year for us, and we are beginning to make preparations for the annual homeschool conference. This year promises to be exciting as it will bring some new facets to the conference. Andrew Pudewa, with Institute for Excellence in Writing, and Dr. Jobe Martin, with Biblical Discipleship Ministries, will be our Keynote Speakers this year.

The dates are June 6-7, 2008 at Reliant Park. We at SETHSA are excited about what will be happening at this year’s event. The conference promises to be loaded with refreshing ideas, helpful information, and some new surprises along the way. For more information got to www.sethsa.org.

 

SUMMER ART CAMP

Robot Discovery Camp (Youth)

 

Session I – June 9-13  Session II – June 16-20

EARLY Robotics                     Mon. – Thurs.      10-12 a.m.             Fee $195

EARLY Robotics introduces 7-11 year olds to engineering principles by using LEGO Simple Machine kits to build robots and realistic motorized machines.  Young engineers in this class will gain knowledge of building and mechanical engineering fundamentals while learning teamwork, project planning and time management.  This camp will prepare students for upcoming EARLY robotics competitions at the elementary school levels and spark their interest for future participation in FIRST LEGO League, Botball and FIRST Robotics competitions.

With the whole world going green, come learn about alternative energy, energy audits, and renewable energy. Create and program robots that help a community rethink its energy consumption.  Campers, working in design and construction teams, will create robots that solve engineering problems in a model community.  The jam-packed week will conclude with a friendly competition designed to inspire campers to implement energy conserving changes in their own environments.  Enjoy visits from professionals currently using robotics in different fields.  This camp is for youth ages 10-14.

CAKE DECORATING LESSONS

If you have ever wanted to learn the secrets to decorating beautiful cakes, here's your chance. I teach cake decorating classes at Hobby Lobby in Pearland. TEXAS ROCK GYM HOMESCHOOL SPECIAL
First Thursday of each month, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm  The Texas Rock Gym
(League City/Clear Lake location) has offered up a great deal for homeschoolers.
They will open every Thursday at 12:00 noon especially for homeschoolers to climb.
They open to the general public at 3:00.
The special homeschool rate for climbers is only $7.50, including the harness rental. 
(This is a big savings over their regular rate of $11.50 including harness.) Homeschoolers 
are still welcome to stay after 3:00. Adults or kids 14 and older are required to belay 
(hold the ropes) for climbers. People who only belay are free.

Remember to wear closed toe shoes.

PEARLAND YMCA PROGRAM FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

Classes meet Tuesday/Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00.  Please note that you must sign up for EVERY month before the 20th of the month prior.  The fee this year for facility members is $15.00 per family per month and for program members it is $45 per child per month.  We have a lot of great activities again this year and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

PEARLAND SWIM ACADEMY:

Pearland Swim Academy (PSA) offers quality swim instruction for ages 6 months and up in our year-round indoor facility in Pearland. Our instructional pool is indoor and heated to 90 degrees. Classes may be held in any type of weather. Our observation area is climate controlled with viewing monitors. Parents can see and hear the entire class in the air conditioned room while siblings can move around without causing distractions to the class in progress. Our staff is trained in the Pearland Swim Academy Curriculum, first aid and CPR. The Pearland Swim Academy Curriculum is skills based toward achieving our Water Strong Certification then continues through stroke development and pre-competitive training.
